Ok first shot at running a thread on this site. This RP will be set in the world of Westeros and will start off specifically at a tournament. With the tournament we can have a lot of variety for characters and I'll let you guys know right now I'll probably be looking to tweak and stretch some elements of the books just to properly do the thread since sometimes I feel like certain elements of the series do wrestle away certain freedoms.

Looking for about 4-8 players. 8 being the absolute max most likely and looking for people who can at least post once a day or at least let people know when they won't be posting for extended times. I know things get busy but if you just let the group it helps a lot.

Time wise the thread will start after King Robert has taken the throne from the Areys Targaryen. It's possible this may change based on the feelings of the players but I think the interim time allows us some freedom so perhaps we'll set things up maybe a year or two years before Game of Thrones starts up.

People can come to the tournament for a myriad or reasons including a chance for glory or as a member of a House who would be remiss if they didn't make appearance at such a large event. Think King's Landing may be the place for the Tournament to be hosted at as well given that also offers us up some more freedom and then as things progress through the tournament I have some ideas and schemes in mind to springboard the characters into other areas and locales.

http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/A_Game_of_Thrones - here is the wiki for a good startup resource.

For those not familiar the Game of Thrones series is dark fantasy and one of the greater sources for it that I've seen in previous years. Scandal, plotting and nefarious individuals are everywhere so I'll be trying to keep up with those themes with npcs and little twists here and there.

On making custom houses I will allow those but they should not exceed a power level of that of a minor house with loyalty to stay the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons or others. Depending on what people want to do it's possible that that prominent characters of noble houses could be created.

In essence you could make Rolan Stark or someone and in essence we would just be tweaking the general elements of the stark family if that makes sense. Again this is mainly just a possibility and would depend on the groups feel.

What do you think about Knights
What do you think of Lords/Ladies
What do you think of the common folk

Please send me your character bio via PM first then I'll post it in the thread. Think that may be the best system.

Sounds wonderful.

Should characters be sent to you for approval before post to this thread?

ummmm. Was actually debating that earlier hehe. Yeah that may be best.

Cool cool just send a bio via PM once you've nailed down a character.

--------------

lil_geek's character.

Name: Lady Talis
House: Driston – Minor House sworn to Lannister
Age: 18

Description/Personality:
Lady Talis’ serene expression belies her turbulent past. Her strawberry-blond hair is a mass of long, curls dutifully confined. Her fair skin is unmarred by the freckles of her youth. Deep blue eyes are fringed with long dark lashes, and rarely reflect the practiced smile of her lips. She is of medium height, but her slender frame and rigid bearing give the impression of greater height. (I will look for a picture)

Personal History:
As the sole child and presumed heir of traditional by fond parents her childhood was a happy one filled with the duties of noblesse oblige. Talis was raised in the belief that her House and its denizens were her responsibility due to her birth rank. Sworn to House Lannister, Driston saw its fortunes rise with the new Queen but the sudden death of her parents left the house without a lord and Talis without protection. A betrayal and failed attempt was made to capture her hand and her holdings, it was bloody and lives were lost. Although not responsible for the deaths, Talis still feels guilty that innocent lives were lost defending her.

In the three months since that attack, Talis has left her childhood home and began life as a ward of the court at the Red Keep. She is adapting in her own way by presenting a serene and pleasant facade that rarely cracks. Still too cautious to enter the politicking, she observes and stores information for future use. She is a loyal and patient friend to many of the other wards of the court. However, despite outward appearances, she is deeply afraid of what her future holds. Filled with the knowledge that as a ward of the court she may be disposed of as the King wishes, or to whoever he wishes, she rages with the frustration of knowing it is all beyond her control.

Name: Alyce Hill
House: Reyne - Extinct house in Westerland
Age: 20

Description/Personality:
Alyce is tall for a woman and of strong body. She has blue eyes and white blond hair that is usually pulled back in a heavy plait that trails down her back. Her skin carries an even tan. She is a quiet personality but constantly watchful. She sees herself as the equal of any man and has a quick tongue when angered. She wears the clothing of a warrior and thinks nothing of the odd looks she gains when she is in a crowd when she carries her sword and her bow.

http://momover.net/wp-content/upload..._2-375x563.jpg

Personal History:
Alyce is the bastard child of a serving maid and a man she never knew. She was born in the lands of the House of Yew and raised by a mother that was too busy to take much notice of a young girl. She has heard all of her life the gossip of other servants and she believes that she is the rightful heir to the House of Reyne, a place that was destroyed because of their rebellious ways. That rebellious spirit still lives within her and from a young age, she has done everything that a woman shouldn’t. She is skilled with weapons and dresses as a man.

While she has kept her heritage a secret besides what loose tongued servants say, she is eager to prove herself useful to anyone that might need her services.

Character

I'll send you my original proposal for Ian, Nordican. It really is based around Renly being old enough to be a power player, and around Ian being 18 or 19 years old and still being Robert's bastard. If Robert has just come to the throne, he couldn't have a bastard that old.

Doesn't mean that we can't work something out, here. See what you think of the original idea and we can put our heads together.

This is the week of the San Diego Comic Con coming up, so I will busier than usual.

totally jealous you got into CC. I got there last year but this go around tickets were just like boom gone >_<

Diablo's character

Character Bio
Sir Lucius Lanister
Age - 27
Cousin of Lord Tywin Lanister
Sir Lucius is a knight sworn to Lord Tywin.
Tall (just a little bit shorter than the mountain)
Dazzling blond hair
Can not stand the common folk but always has a moment or two to spare for a highborn lady
Gear - dazzling steel armor that glints the sun into his opponents eyes decorated with prancing lions around the front and beautiful roses on the back, two one handed swords both exactly the same (steel with a lions head on the hilt with rubies for eyes).

Sir Lucius's father was of house Lannister and his mother of house Tyrell. , Sir Lucius has a very short temper but after he has done something rash and hurt someone that meant a lot to him he feels really guilty about it. From an early age the Master at arms at Casterly Rock realized that Sir Lucius liked to change which hand he held his sword in and had the same amount of skill using both hands, in response to this he was trained to wield two one handed swords, this fighting style does mean that he is unable to use a shield but when Sir Lucius fights he hardly ever finds a need for a shield due to being on the offensive all the time and hardly ever needing to be on the defensive.

Good luck in the tournament sir.

Thank you.

I am looking forward to this. :)

Me too. Hoping we'll have a good rate of posting and we can keep things going. Likely time table of starting up will be around Wednesday give or take how couple of other bios are turned in.

Nordican have you come up with a description for your character? I'm looking forward to this as well

I keep losing this post in the shuffle. lol

Thanks for posting my character bio! I can't wait to start.

Still kind of debating a main character. I have some plot related characters in mind but I usually take my time coming up with a main character in threads I run cause it can end up diminishing things given it's hard to resit using meta knowledge combined with common sense. Probably will go with a knight eager to prove himself in the tournament but in addition I'll have a host of support characters to help with things ; )

The Lannisters, such kind and lovely people.

:)

well glad we got some good people lined up. I'll likely post something circra 3 horus and 15 minutes from now. No immediate rush we're not going to start with people at the lists or anything but figure it will be first day of the tournament. Some people will be arriving while others can be there. Still deliberating on an actual character >_< but have some rough ideas for someone who will be sort of a character that the PC's have all met at one point and time.

The Tournament

What would you say to Ian being the keeper of the lists for the tourney, or serving in some similar role as a scribe?

Char Bio
First name - Devlan
Last name - Whitearm
Nickname - the Fox's Sword
Age - 20
House - None. Sworn to Sir Avis Florent at the time of the tournament.

Appearance - Devlan is a sturdy looking young man. His hair is a medium length affair of dusty black and he has a small goatee of black stubble that looks to need some trimming. His eyes are a sharp green while the left has a stroke of white mixed into a mistiness in the pupil. He is about 6 feet tall and is not overly lean or muscular given most times he is traveling and serving House Florent and doesn't spent much time not in movement or in combat.

Vices and Virtues - Devlan has begun to realize that being a knight isn't exactly what he wanted out of life. He still enjoys the occasional brothel and drinks regularly so it's not for lack of fun he endures but just the fact that the true good knights have little difference between good men. So Devlan occasionally enjoys attempting the role of a trickster or drunkard out of his feeling of being a bit lost at the moment.
Gear- Generally wears a dark brown doublet under burnished steel armor. His shield has the three arrows with white features at their ends over a blue and black checked back.

Short history and bio - Devlan Whitearm is the son of Vanin Whitearm. His father was a great archer in his own right and served House Florent as a scout and archer. When his son came of age Devlan was taken as a quire of Sir Avis Florrent at the request of his father that the boy should become a knight and serve the realm. Upon being knighted for his gallantry and courage in slaying a group of bandits from Dorne who threatened a Hightower noble lady Devlan chose three arrows tipped with his father's chosen white arrows as his family's sigil. The three arrows represented his father and his two uncles who had died but had been nonetheless great influences on him.

If you like just for building up more on the characters answer these next three questions.
What do you think about Knights - thinks that the knights found to be butchers and at the worse hired swords in the hands of their lords with little hesitancy to kill should be stripped and then executed for failing in their duty.
What do you think of Lords/Ladies - They are the best of the people and should be held as such. Lords and Ladies found to be abusive of their power deserve the same treatment as common folks found guilty of crimes.
What do you think of the common folk - A knights duty is to the common folk he is sworn to protect. Above the rest the folk make up a kingdom and knights should serve the realm, not just their lords or themselves.

Char Bio
First name: Ian
Last name: Waters
House: Bastard Baratheon?

Appearance - image or description work best.
"What he did not inherit was his father's build. Like his mother, he was slender and quick, though a good deal taller than she had been. He was stronger than he looked, though, at least at firsst glance, and that suited him. He was both what he seemed, and not what he seemed; and he deplored the falseness, the hypocrisy."

(Other than this, I have left him mostly undescribed, but he should have the Baratheon coloring, black of hair. I don't see well, so I usually have a hard time with portraits any more.)

Vices and Virtues - This will mainly help me with building npcs to help bounce off the characters themselves: Sneaky like Littlefinger but not so purely selfish. Nearly as ambitious, though. Very loyal to Lord Renly, depending on timeline. He has an inner anger he tries not to display. He has an intense need to prove himself. He has a weakness for pretty girls. esp. noblewomen; he frets that his bastardy will prevent him from ever marrying one.
Gear- Just the basic stuff a scribe would carry, though he does have a sword he rarely wears except to the practice yard.
Short history and bio
King Robert's eldest bastard, from before Cersei (or Lyanna) and thus not the same sore point for Cersei that the others might be. Brought up at court and tacitly recognized, though Robert, except on very rare occasions for a few minutes when they have been thrown together, has not been a father to him at all. Renly has however been like a big brother or favorite uncle.

If you like just for building up more on the characters answer these next three questions.
What do you think about Knights: mostly boorish but capable, some few like Balon Swann are to be admired and respected. Brutes like Gregor Clegane are reprehensible
What do you think of Lords/Ladies Ian resents them only a little. Pretty ladies obsess him.
What do you think of the common folk Mostly pity, esp. if they are starving

That should be fine. Actually works nicely to have some people setup in different specific roles. Then it's just a matter of building those threads together :). How's comic con btw getting to see some cool stuff?
