The Time Jump Platform

Timeline:​

The "Time Travel Platform" appeared above Earth. The station was in high Earth orbit, directly above the U.S.-Mexico border; the time was just before 2am, Eastern Time Zone. An effect later referred to unofficially as "The Time Delay" would be one of the factors convincing the people of the 21st Century that the Platform did in fact travel through time and was not simply an alien craft arriving to invade the planet. Earth's "decay" continued unabated from the 21st Century onward.

Care Parents: These are the contemporary equivalent to Foster Parents. In the 23rd century, mortality rates -- despite advancements in the medical field -- are still high, and a great many children become orphans. In addition, many parents must venture away from their children for years at a time; some never return. Mission Commander Lee, for example, was raised by Care Parents after he was orphaned as a pre-teen.​

Came from money, then made a fortune in social media and marketing.

He is unmarried and without children. He has had a Mistress -- Beth Cooper -- for almost a decade, but she is kept out of the public eye and -- outside of his Secret Service detail -- is unknown to the public.

By 2018, when he announced he was running for President of the United States as an Independent candidate, his companies were grossing more money than the 2nd through 4th place finishers on the Fortune 500 and he was the richest man on the planet, with over 135 billion dollars in personal assets.​

When he was only 34, Rolling Stone magazine said of Taylor that what made him such a lovable, popular person was that although he was a fabulously wealthy man living much better than most of the people who worked for him, he "treat(ed) every one around him like kings and queens".

Every employee in every company he controlled had a generous -- if not full -- benefit package, along with higher than typical wages. He kept as much of his labor in the United States as he could, and anytime an opportunity arose to bring work home, he did. And he didn't do business with overseas companies that didn't treat their employees with care and concern.​

He was always politically conscious and aware, but was never in politics. He never gave money to political campaigns, and he never engaged paid lobbyists. (Because of this, he was never accused of using his money to buy influence in the halls of government.)

After the ugly Presidential campaign of 2012 and the mid-term election of 2014, though, he'd had enough of politics as usual. He began supporting politicians across the country, from Mayors to Senators, from Republicans to Democrats and all in between. By the 2016 election, his Presidential Candidate, 6 Senators, 18 Congressmen, and 180 other politicians were in office. All had been ushered in on platforms of making America stronger and shrinking the wealth gap by bringing family wage jobs back to the people.

Unfortunately, politics as usual continued. In 2019, he announced he was running for President of the United States as an Independent and won with more than 63% of the vote, the highest percentage ever under the modern Presidential political frame work.

And he paid for his entire campaign, of course, out of pocket.​

I like sexual collaboration, but I won't do it in the main role play thread. I like to write sexually explicit scenes in a separate thread and link them to the main thread.​

Taylor will be conflicted over the role of the Futurists. Deep down, he believes in a great deal of what the Futurists believe in -- preservation of the planet itself and the life upon it -- but he won't be able to go along with many of their methods.​

Taylor will, in the beginning, greet the Futurists with open arms and listen to all they have to say with an open mind. But, as he realizes the effects their demands will have upon his fellow Americans -- and upon his own wealth -- he will begin to wonder if maybe there isn't another way.​

This character is here for two primary reasons: to collaborate, obviously, with other characters; and to provide information -- exposition -- about the story, to stimulate writing amongst y'all.

Howard Taylor, while he will play a significant role, is not the story. He is only a small part of it.​

Lee, like most of the "elite" population of the future, was genetically "enhanced" to extend his life and improve his health. Although 65 years old, he had the looks of a man half his age and the physical strength and endurance of a man younger than that.​

He is a dominant personality, and yet soft spoken; when he does speak, he is listened to intently for what he has to say carries weight.

He enjoys women very much. He has, of course, a Family Mate -- the mother of his three children -- and a Registered Sex Partner on the Orbital Station that served Project Rejuvenation. In addition, he periodically spends intimate time with several other female crew members aboard the Platform.​

He is very much a self made man. While he came from "elitist" parents, he was orphaned at an early age and grew up among "common folk", including a Care Father who was a common laborer and a Care Mother who was an elementary level school teacher.​

Barely into his teens, he scored near perfect grades on the University Entrance exams and, after just two years of pre-University, was accepted into World University.

At 18, he joined the Space Training Academy; at 22, he became the youngest man to ever qualified as pilot of an NLS (near light speed) craft; and beginning at 31, he began piloting the Time Jump prototypes.

In his 40's, he moved into more of an Administrative roll within the Time Jump program; and later moved into what would become Project Rejuvenation. He applied for the position of Executive Officer of the Time Jump Platform but was instead selected as its Mission Commander.​

Lee has only one goal in mind: the preservation of Earth as a biosphere. And, if human lives have to be sacrificed -- by the thousands, tens of thousands, millions, or even billions -- to save the planet, he thinks he has what it takes to order and execute that plan. Only time will tell.​

Lee wants to cooperate with the Leaders and People of 21st century Earth; he wants to make the transition to a New World Order as peaceful and agreeable as he can. But, he's going to do what needs to be done.

Lee will interact primarily with Leaders of Earth, but he will also have some dealings with "common" people ... including, hopefully, a beautiful, sexy woman. (I have some thoughts on who she should be, but I won't talk about it here.)​

There is a bit of a twist in store for Lee that, again, I won't talk about here. But, while it may seem as if he is omnipresent and omnipotent at times, he has flaws and weaknesses as well.​

One of the Futurist Patrol Ships crashes and its surviving occupant is taken hostage by Anti-Futurist activists.

An attractive female Twenty-First (your character) becomes Mission Commander Lee's lover, which complicates issues when he learns that one of the elements of Project Rejuvenation will harm her family or homeland in some way. (We can discuss what that issue would be.)

Two countries are at odds over complying with the Futurist demands being place upon them; and while one of the major demands placed on the Twenty-Firsts is an end to war, these two countries end up in conflict.

A band of Anti-Futurists is arming and preventing the shut down of a facility (to be determined), resulting in military action by the Futurists. This creates quite a dilemma, since one of the Futurists primary goals is an end to armed conflict.

Ryogen understands that, whatever the century, she is still a woman in a man's world. On the surface, she is dignified, charming and graceful.
Beneath that thin veneer, however, she is a woman of ruthless ambition and guile.​

Imagine Ryogen's mother went back in time herself and bought a copy of Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, and then dutifully followed every word in raising her daughter. Nothing Ryogen did was ever good enough to satisfy her mother. Ever.​

Ryogen graduated from the World University with honors, to her deep personal shame. If she lived up to her true potential, she would have graduated valedictorian.

Shorty after leaving the university, Ryogen began working for the International Security Institute, or ISI, as a field agent. She worked her way up the ladder by any means possible.

Upon learning about Project Rejuvenation, she began to devour all the information on the 21st century socio-political scene she could get her hands on. She also used her personal network of spies and informants to guarantee herself a spot on the mission.​

Hmm..it really depends on the situation, but I doubt I'd get too graphic about it. This is not cyber sex for me, it's writing. Sorry if that's kinda vague, but as a woman I reserve the right to be as vague as I damn well please

Ryogen is not a particularly sexual creature. Sex is a weapon, a means to an end. Nothing more.​

The current situation is a golden egg. Using vastly superior technology against an intellectually inferior opponent is a dream come true.
Ryogen certainly has her own agenda, but she keeps her cards very close to the chest.​

Ryogen realizes that she is a tool in the hands of the Commander. She can seduce, charm, infiltrate or assassinate with equal ease.
Does Ryogen have a 'direction' beyond performing missions for the Commander? Not officially.​

He is a true soldier, follows his superiors obediently and expects that same dedication from those under his command. Though he does not look like it, he is a good listener and carries a lot of secrets with him, never to be revealed. In fact it seems like most people tend to come to him with their problems, because he tends to have a logical answer. Having grown up in the military he has adopted the stance that there is no life more important than his soldiers'. Behind this thick, tough exterior beats a soft heart, but he has made sure to keep it hidden, he shares his caring only with his soldiers and without them really knowing it. During discussions he had been the voice of reason many times, but being a private person, nobody knows what he thinks unless he opens his mouth.​

One of the very few to actually have known his parents and grown up in a family home before he went off to Military School. The only family he really knows is the Military and he lives accordingly.​

Ever since he set foot in the military Smythe was at home. He flourished and when he started his career he advanced at a rate which was phenomenal. But it was not given to him, he earned every accolade, every rank, every scar he carried with pride as it was his and what he had done for his family.

As it goes with prodigies like Smythe, he had a lot of firsts, he also have a long list of being the youngest. Just like he is the youngest General in the past hundred years, he had proven time and again that he was no child. He deserved to be there.

If being a leader was not enough, Smythe showed an amazing tactical brain and also has a phenomenal eye for shooting. His hand-to-hand skills rely very little on his own power and more on quick and effective ways to take down and neutralize an opponent. He is currently the Military's Heavy Weight champion, something he doesn't flaunt and talk about even less. He keeps in shape with a rigorous training regiment every morning and though he is not a total control freak, he tends to get his point across with as little words as possible.​

Don't think that anybody would be sexually attracted to the grumpy military man, but if it happens it can be written out in a separate RP spot and linked to the ORP. Just to be clear, Johann has no family but the military and it will take a lot for a female to get his attention.​

He is here on a mission, his orders are clear. Safe the planet and guide the Human race. If resistance is met....squash it. Even if it does mean to destroy all of humanity to start anew.​

Smythe has no ambition, if Lee starts to change from the plan, Smythe will be the one who talks to him as he, himself will have no outside influence to change his mind or his directive.​

Not that I can think of now.​

Appears average build, but is athletic with a lean and toned body.​

Quirky. Determined. Loyal. These are just a few words used to describe Emma. She is a woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to do whatever it takes to reach her goals. Unafraid to be herself, Emma does not apologize for who she is and what she does. Many people think that she’s a tad odd, but Emma doesn’t care. She is her own person and does not bow to social conventions. Emma is also fiercely loyal to those she cares about. She would rather die than see them hurt in any way.​

Emma Grace Copeland is the only child of Grace and Ben Copeland. Growing up in D.C., where both her parents served as lawyers, Emma had the world at her feet. She went to the best schools, rubbed shoulders with the children of political bigwigs, and had every advantage possible.

As she grew up, however, Emma became dissatisfied with her life. It wasn’t any fault of her parents; it was just Emma learning who she was as an individual. While her parents didn’t quite understand why she started to fight against her upbringing and their lifestyle, they also supported her, knowing that Emma needed to become her own person.

After high school, Emma took a year off to backpack around the United States. During this time she fell in with a group of protestors who worked against companies that were steadily stripping the land of its natural resources and leaving havoc in their wake. In one protest, Emma snuck onto a logging site and helped to tamper with the equipment. Little did she know, however, that one of her comrades was planting explosives all around the site. The next day, three of the site’s workers died in the explosion. Heartbroken at the steps her friends would take to “protect” the environment, Emma left the protestors and returned home where she later attended Harvard. There she studied environmental law in hopes of finding better and safer ways to fight against the injustices done to the earth. Completely against using violence as a means to an end, Emma worked hard to get her degree so that she could use her mind, and not her fists, to save the planet.​

While in law school, Emma worked on Capitol Hill as an intern for an environmental rights group. Upon graduation, she remained with the group. She now heads a team that fights against strip mining.​

I am all for sexual collaboration. While this isn’t my main focus when I’m RPing, I don’t shy away from having a bit of extra fun in the game.​

Emma is fearful at first, not sure what to make of the situation. But as she learns why the Futurists are here, she will help them in any way that she possibly can.​

Currently I don’t have any specific direction that I wish to take Emma. I’m open to seeing where the RP goes. Though I think it would be interesting for her to work alongside the Futurists and fall in love with one of them.​

Her off-duty time is taken with swimming, running, handball, and her secret vice, romance novels; the more lurid and melodramatic, the better. She also paints but is her own harshest critic.

She misses Home badly and her Mother whom she absolutely doted on. Her shyness has caused her to not seek companionship but she'd like a boyfriend.

I am very okay with this. Jenna's being shy stems from being different from others (genetically speaking; she is very Asian looking) leading to self esteem issues and not being comfortable with others physically.

I feel Jenna is bisexual.

Yes I do like to write sexual scenes. I have not written too much guy on girl stuff; and concerning writing in "detail", I do not have issues with this either.

She lives and breaths the 'Mission Party Line' of curing old Earth for the Future, but secretly worries this is what *caused* the whole problem in the first place.

She reads some but understands little of Temporal paradoxes and such (being above her education levels, with her technical background) but this is niggling her.​

She would like to have a boyfriend. (More answer would be appreciated; PM me with more if you would like and I will add it.​

For reasons that will go unexplained, when the Time Platform appeared in High Earth Orbit -- essentially above the Texas-Mexico border -- time slowed in a sphere about the ship, reaching out to affect the hemisphere of Earth facing it. (See Post #1.)

The closer to the ship a particular point on Earth was, the more dramatic the effect was. In the end, once the "delay" ceased to be occurring, there was a 1 hour 11 minute time difference between what time in Southwest Texas-North Mexico should have been and what it actually was; and the effect continued outward over the affected hemisphere.

Anything and everything in the hemisphere was affected. The effect wasn't simply on electronics; time literally did slow in those areas.

For example, a flight from Los Angeles that had been near Dallas at the time of the "event" arrived in Miami almost an hour late, despite the fact that it never deviated from its course and speed. Stuff like that.

No one noticed that time about them was slowing; everything seemed normal. And after the "delay" ended, things seemed normal as well. The only reason anyone even noticed it was because the delay didn't affect everyone the same.​

One of those aboard the Platform when it time jumped from 2288 to 2022. (FYI: In 2288, they don't refer to themselves as Futurists. The term was coined in a news article during the construction of the Platform and it just stuck. (See also "TwentyFirsts" and "Retros".)​

A Futurist who was born with no preconception or prenatal manipulation of their genes. (Some Natural have postnatal treatments, however.)

The term Natural is not always used as a positive term. Some Enhanced people look down on Naturals. Depending upon the context and tone of the speaker, the word Natural can be endearing; can be an awkward description, such as referring to a person as black, colored, or African-American when the individual would prefer to be called something different; or can even be interpreted as harshly as the use of the word Nigger. It's all in the context, the tone, and the relationship between the Natural and the Enhanced in question.​

To fill the civilian slots on board the Time Jump Platform, the World Government offered lottery tickets to people who volunteered to world for the project. The more hours you put in, the more tickets you received. In the end, 2/3 of the 22,000 civilian positions were filled by the International Lottery.​

Another controversial program, the New Start Initiative offered young, single, enhanced Futurists a priority at applying for Project Rejuvenation. In exchange for head of the line privileges, they had to agree to being matched to a "birthing mate" -- also an enhanced -- in the 21st century, for the purpose of creating what was being called Naturally Enhanced Humans.​

Will was born in the Canadian Rockies to American parents. When their work visa expired and was not renewed, they returned to the New Detroit Dome. One of the original domed cities, New Detroit is a LIPS (Low Income Professional Service) designated residential area, restricted to lower income Government workers and their families. Will's parents, still alive and married, like to call themselves pencil pushers; they have each worked their entire lives as Middle Managers within the Human Resources Division of the World Government (United States Partition).

Contrary to the myriad of laws against and incentives toward reducing the number of children within family units, Will has four siblings, all girls (two older, two younger). Facing deportation from Canada, his parents each had to agree to sterilization before they could return to the United States.

Will is a "Natural", a person born without preconception or prenatal genetic manipulation or engineering. Because of this, he had missed out on some important opportunities in life:

Growing up in the Canadian Rockies, one of the last untouched stretches of temperate forest on the planet, Will was already in love with trees long before he relocated to New Detroit. He dedicated his future to learning more about conserving the forests of Northern America.

He is an Adviser in the Temperate Forest Riparian Division of Project Rejuvenation. He didn't receive his first assignment until several days after the time jump.​

I like to write sexual scenes.​

Will is thoroughly excited about being part of Project Rejuvenation. He fought tirelessly to get such as assignment as he has, being a Liaison between the TFRD and TwentyFirst conservation groups.​

Will is lonely and wants a girl friend. Since he learned he would be part of Project Rejuvenation, he has only had one lover, and she broke up with him as soon as she learned he was a Natural and didn't share her superior genetic nature.

I want to put him together with a female conservationist, for business and pleasure both. I also want to put him into a situation where the woman he meets pressures him to offer more than his mission allows, putting him in a situation where he has to decided whether to satisfy the wants and desires of his new girl friend or of his Futurist supervisors.​

John loves nature more than he loves humans, he is a man who would rather spend days patrolling the park than spend one day working with people. Every day he sees the effect of modern society on nature and it makes him sad to know there is talks of alternative energy sources, yet trees gets felled every day, coal mined and oil pumped, killing the planet little by little. He is a friendly person when approached correctly, would rather talk about conflict than solve it with violence. Yet if he gets pushed too far, he does a lot of damage in a very short time. Some say he loses his mind other blame it on his Norweigan heritage, one thing is certain, John is a person you don't want to have angry at you.​

Growing up with three older brothers, John had learned to fend for himself at an early age. It was often amuzing to see their father having to pull a furious John off of one of his older brothers after he had snapped.

John did good in school, averaging an A throughout school he decided to play soccer which earned him more fights with his brothers. After school he studied Electrical Enginering, after finishing that he decided to study for a Park Ranger as well. Funny enough the first work he found was as a Ranger and it was the work he fell in love with.​

from the start John did everything according to the book. In his five years of service he have saved more climbers, hikers and wanderers than he care to remember. He had to put down a few animals that seemed to go off the reserve, but he tends to try and capture them alive. Dedicated to the survival of the animals and plants, he at times takes the time to talk to the people that will take his words to heart...children.​

Not against it, but where will John get booty in the wild and no bestiality is not on my list of kinks.​

It is high time that somebody step up and force the governments of the world to start looking after the Earth.​

He will support the Futurists, he may at times not agree with their methods, but as long as their goal is the same he will help them. I would like him to be one of the people that meets one of the higher ranked officers of the platform​
