Along with the Thread about teaching women to read....I personally had a career of thirty years reading and commenting on NEWS on both radio and television, and what I see and hear now is sickening.

Now....I understand Soap Operas and Daytime television for women who stay at home all day, fine, let them sob their way through housework, I could care less. But when some blond bimbo with a thigh high skirt and cleavage that was once considered obscene attempts to deliver straight news, all I can do is giggle.

And those pathetic empathetic eye lifts and mouth moues and tone drops in voice to indicate sorrow at a sad News item, anger, outrage and self righteous indignation at those terrible oil companies or mean old stock brokers, breaks me up into laughter.

If you haven't taken note before, now that I bring it to your attention, you will.

Down with women! (on their backs) Old song: "It's a woman's world, lahdefuckindah! I am so sick of feminism I could barf.;)

channeling the inner hobbit?

it doesn't really work until you get your hands dirty.

Tonight on the ABC World News Tonight they ran a story on a handful of recent in-flight airline incidents. One incident involved a man who had tried to open the cabin door while in flight. The reporter ended the story by assuring viewers that it was literally impossible to open a door or emergency exit while at altitude.

Diane Sawyer remarked on air that that was an interesting fact. She hadn't known that.

I found it far more interesting that someone in broadcast news for nearly 30 years wouldn't know that all commercial aircraft doors open inward and that the pressure differential between the interior cabin air and that environment outside the plane would mean anyone trying to open a cabin door would be fighting a force of about 11 lbs. per square inch.

Diane and I are roughly the same age, and it still feels like my mother is giving me the news.
