Bartertown Reborn
Bartertown Reborn
Are you a Mad Max fan? Ever wondered what happened to Auntie Entity, Ironbar, The Collector, and the others after that madman from the Outback so rudely destroyed their happy little town and kidnapped their beloved Master?
Come join the fun. Assume an existing Player Character or create someone new. The story begins in Bartertown, but will spread to include The Oasis, Sydney, and eventually the rest of the post-apocalyptic world.
Auntie Entity had proclaimed, "Bartertown will go on, we will rebuild!"
And they were; slowly, oh so very slowly.
Master was gone, and with him all his knowledge. The Underlings had done their best to restore methane production, and in the process blew up more buildings and taken more lives.
Without the methane, without its power -- its political power, and the wealth that followed -- Bartertown was just another played out mining pit.
But, life goes on; some lives better, others not so much so.
Ironbar was still alive; barely. For his loyalty and unfailing service, Auntie had given him some time off to recuperate. She called it a leave of absence. But he knew what it was: retirement.
In Bartertown, for most, retirement was just another word for murdered and dumped in the desert. But Ironbar, and Ironbar alone, knew the secrets to -- and therefore held the key to -- Auntie Entity's desire of reclaiming her pre-Bartertown life. So, to keep him happy and get him back to his feet, Auntie had given him a gift, in recognition of his years of loyalty and unfailing service, she'd said. Ironbar knew, of course, that Auntie would give him every whore in the Outback to get her old life back.
There were others for whom Bartertown's impending doom had not been so devastating. The Waterseller was no longer killing people with his poisonous wares. Fleeing into the wasteland to escape the mayhem of months earlier, he'd literally stumbled into a clean, radiation-free spring, and was now up to his eye balls in fluid more valuable than the black stuff that had lead to the world's demise so many years earlier.
His only problem now? How do you cash in on thousands of gallons of something that every Gun in Bartertown would kill you over just to have a drink of?
He would sell his treasure, of course, to the only person who could use it and avoid suspicion: The Gardener, his niece. It was a match made in heaven: he had more water than he could sell, and she had more acreage than she could water. As for payment, he had little interest in getting potatoes or soy bean; he wanted what she had given no man yet -- his treasure for her treasure, he'd already decided.
And for Dr. Dealgood, business was good. There's nothing like a good depression -- and the deal breaking that comes with it -- to stimulate business for an intelligent, opportunistic leach such as he. For one thing that no one -- save Auntie, lronbar, and The Collector -- knew was that the possessions belonging to the losing half of Two men enter, one man leaves, were forfeited, to him; after all, someone had to pay the ring master for bringing the circus to the people. So, when business under the 'dome was good, business for him was good.
If you are interested in becoming part of "Return to Thunderdome: Bartertown Reborn", please PM me with a very general idea of what PC you would like to play -- some of the above are available, and you are always welcome to create your own -- with an equally general idea of where you would like to take your story. This is an SRP, but your participation on either the "S" or the "RP" is totally your call (meaning you have a choice of being involved in the sexual situations or not; as you also have a choice of either writing your own story or collaborating with other Players.)
PLEASE do not post non-storyline replies in this, the storyline thread. PM the host, PNW_Male, please.
