Best loss of the tourney so far. I have a ton of respect for Northern Iowa. They are what's right about college sports. UK hoop represents all that is wrong.

There is certainly something to be said for a collegiate program that focuses on more than turning out the next NBA star. It certainly seems as though this is where the UK program has gone.

I'm hoping that pulling a mid-majors coach like McCaffery can do something for a death-spiraling Hawkeyes. At least we'll be moving on the court again! I do know that he expects his players to toe the line, something that seems to have been missing from the Iowa program.

Gun - feel free to rant anytime - I like hearing what people have to say! Someone doesn't like sports they can move on to the next post.

This seems to be the general consensus and I take solace in that fact that there was a silver lining to my team losing for my friends here at Lit!!!

I'm a college hoops junkie. I don't like Duke, mainly because of the Terps/Blue Devils rivalry. But, I respect Coach K and all he's done for his program, the ACC and college basketball.

the other side of the coin are coaches like Calipari who leave a wrecked program behind them. What has U Mass done since he's left? What will Memphis do? And I hope that a storied program like U K isn't forever ruined because of what he will do.

I love the UNIs and Butlers of this year's tourney. It makes March Madness all the better.

I hope McCafferey does well for the Hawkeyes, too.

And AJ is beautiful and a hoops fan. Be still my beating heart.

I know McCaffery has done a nice job with Siena but don't know alot about him. Is his resume any better than Likliter's was when Iowa hired him? Is he a good fit for Iowa? Hopefully but hiring the "right" coach is no easy task. Having the patience to grow with the right coach , especially when they walk into a mess, is not always easy.

Totally agree with the Duke analysis. The Blue Devils aren't exactly lovable but at least they do it right.

Gotta love the UNIs and Butlers. On paper they have no biz beating Kansas and Syracuse but they did and they deserve all the love they get. Baylor, St Mary's, Cornell - all great stories.

If you cared to look it up, your facts are incorrect if you read the rulings by the NCAA.

From the NCAA letters sent to all parties in the Camby investigation at U Mass, they vindicated Calipari and U Mass for what were the accusations. Indeed, they apologized for the accusations. Why U Mass hasn't had a just as successful season, I can only conjecture was only the way that U Mass led their program with the coaches they hired and the players they recruited.

As for Memphis, Calipari was again found of no wrong doing in what happened in Rose's SAT scoring, and what was the ultimate outcome.

You need to delve more into what your scandalous accusations and inconclusive conclusions come to. You need to not take what the media feeds you but what is really the facts and truth rather then the rumors and innuendoes of what fallacies led you to believe. You my friend are nothing more then the "sheep-lead-to-slaughter” that many of the media want us to believe. Don't down a program for wanting to build on a future rather than the disrespect of the past. Get over your prejudice and misunderstanding and move on.

You have as much right to defend and like Calipari and Gun does to dislike him. I understand you believe his dislike to be based on falsehood but it is still his opinion. Brad - I love your support of my little team!! :) I was raised on Iowa basketball & football - just part of my blood I guess. :kiss:

Gun - Do you believe Iowa should have stuck with Likliter longer? It felt as though Iowa rushed into the hiring of a new coach. I hope McCaffery is able to rally the boys and produce. There's already the naysayers but I am a glass half full person and I say give him a chance. One thing is for certain... it's been a long time since it's been a Lute Olson Hawkeye team. Sigh.

It has been a very exciting tourney - can't wait to see how the final four goes.
