Mood: Relieved. Here's the scoop, beginning with a post from "Saturday night" 24 hours ago:

The party was great - not a lot of people because I called it at the last minute just the day before, but the right people, and a couple of pleasant surprises, too.
So we were sitting on the deck after dinner, drinking and having fun, when the weather got threatening, and then it started to rain. No problemo - we moved into my lovely screen porch that I've got all set up nice. Party rolled on for another hour, and then the Big Storm hit - wind, sideways rain, branches falling, etc.
OK, we'll go inside then, to the comfy air-conditioned living room. Party rolled on until the next line of t-storms came through and knocked out the power at around 11! Most people left to check on their own homes, but a few stuck around for another half hour or so, conversing by candlelight.
Party at Roxanne's! Burgers on the barbie, champagne (aka $7 Spanish bubbly), fresh t'maters & white onions, berries, and more. It's 85 out, my petunias are in full glory, my persistent-but-not-really-anal lawn care has paid off with a loverly green carpet, and the local gang is comin' over. Woo-hoo!C'mon down, AH.

Had to play mercy angel yesterday. Eldest sprog called around 10ish, apologising (!?), saying h e wouldn't normally ask, but his wife has an emergency dentist appointment at 11, and the buses are crap on Sundays, would I? If course I would. Picked her up, discovered she'd had bad toothache for over 2 days (ouch!), and had finally given in and called the duty dentist (good old National Health). We found it no problem, (impressive place, didn't even realise it was there), registered here, waited while she was attended to, which didn't take long, detoured to Tescos to their pharmacy to get pain meds, and then took her home. less than 2 hours since he'd called me. Pretty good. She has to call her own dentist, looks like she'll have to make the choice between just having it out, or a root canal/cap. The extraction is far cheaper, and I told her that I had the same problem, had the root canal, the dentist did/said nothing about a cap, the tooth rotted away leaving only the metal stump which had to be removed in the end, anyway. So I actually threw away over £200. The extraction was £60.

Auntie Mat, solution to the dentist problem in Britain - from now on only allow qualified dentists to emigrate to the UK. It would ease the pressure on schools and healthcare, provide more NHS dentists and bring the prices of existing dentists crashing down. Don't like dentists, anyway Had one who was like a poison dwarf when I was a kid. *shudders*

One should not make an entire bottle of wine disappear late in the evening when one has to get up early the next day.
Kids are impatiently waiting for Bel to get up so we can go Wii hunting.

drinking lots, including blueberry strawberry shakes and green tea. Cant do the bread today which is fine cos I'm having trouble getting up the gumption to even drink the shakes. I think its the heat and the headache so time may have to be the answer or sleep and loads of it but that isnt possible with class stuff being behind. *sighs* Bleary & bloated.

It was beautiful. Glistening in the sunshine, a rainbow of yacht sails in the distance, enjoying the sunshine and light breezes; as I drove along the coast road, there were happy holiday makers enjoying the weather, stretched out on the grass, kids running around playing with frisbees under the trees, and as I drove further and upwards, the view from the top of the cliffs was stunning.
