Longish type rant:
Money leads to a job. I have a job and the job sucks, I need a career and a skill that I can use in life. I'm looking at a CDL or enlisting in the air force. The CDL looks a bit more enticing since I do not want to enlist. <snip> The CDL on the other hand would have my over the road so much I wouldn't hardly know where the hell home was. Like that is any kind of change. Plus driving across the country in a crappy U-Haul made me realize that OTR would not be too bad.

Tog, my husband just recently got his CDL and is now on the road doing his training with the company that hired him. Driving a truck is very good money and you can find companies where you are home every weekend, plus they have ride along programs where you can take one of the kids with you. My husband's company is like this. He will be home every weekend and anyone 5 years old or older can ride along. He's been told that once he gets in his own truck that he will gross $1,000 starting out... and he will get raises every few months at first. If you want some more info or whatnot feel free to pm me.

On paper the air force is a good idea, i mean boot camp alone would take about 6 weeks without my ex, get me into the best shape of my life, and set me up with a career. I would not be flying planes, in fact there was a psychology career option that really peaked my interest but I still have my reservations about it. Enlisting isn't something that is taken lightly. The CDL on the other hand would have my over the road so much I wouldn't hardly know where the hell home was. Like that is any kind of change. I just found my daughter watching a movie in spanish, when I asked her why she said she loved it like that. I would miss little moments like these in the air force or on the road and both options are something i would not be ashamed to have.

I am a truck driver. :p
I have had my class A CDL license. I drive alot... I am out for 2 or 3 months at a time any given time. I work for one of the BIG companies and I make damn good money for the amount of time that I have in and they pay very very well. Both of them have their goods and bad points... the AF and the CDL. However to be truthful... if I were in your shoes, I would be the AF for the long picture look at things.... it will give you a career that has the possiblity for advancement, pay raises, something that you won't get laid off for because there is no need for it... they can help you with college, they have excellent medical for you and your daughter. I like driving don't get me wrong... but if I had my choice it would be the AF. However, if you want to talk about truck driving... give me a jingle.

Always be leery of what the trucking companies promise... they are... interesting... but again like I said to Tog... have any questions... give me a jingle.

Just sticking my rather wasted head in briefly to share a secret:

The sight of Concorde makes me moan more than when I'm with a woman. She's just beautiful and I'm getting a massive print of Concorde taking off to put on my wall :nana:

When I was little I promised myself that I'd save up and fly on her one day. Now it's impossible :(

I saw one in JFK once, though. It was after a really horrible break-up with my girlfriend, and it so happened that Goddess of Zade was smiling down :) First I got bumped up to 1st class Virgin Atlantic, with the champagne, lobster, masseuse and the seat that turned into a bed - by then I'd stopped crying. Then, as we were about to take off, I saw Concorde parked nearby, and knew I was going to be ok :D

The champagne helped, but seeing Concorde made me moan most of the way home

So my secret is that I'm absolutely fucking obsessed with Concorde  I wish I could marry her and fly around in her all day... Can you imagine how cool it would be to smoke a spliff on Concorde? :D

*sigh* I can still fantasise... :cathappy:
I probably heard this in some program about the Concorde: Over the radio the pilot of the fighter that was the chase plane during the first flight said something like this to the test pilot, except in French so it was even prettier:

"If only you could see how lovely you are."

:)

Tx... I just read another one of your fishing stories. You are so naughty. ;)

Who Me? I have a couple more. One is finished but not edited and the other needs more time.

Possible story ideas:

Overnight Stocking- A story about two people who are stuck working retail at Christmas and decide to have some fun.

The Worst Job Ever- A college student loses his financial aide and must take a fast food job to pay the bills, he thinks it is the worst job ever... but maybe the Drive Thru has a plus side.

Parent Teacher Conference- If I have to explain this then I need to smack you first

I'm leaning toward Parent/Teacher at the moment. Speaking of school-type matters I need to go on to the bus stop and pick up my kiddlet.

A new game, or new to me, a spin game. No, not a sit and spin or a spin class, but a game where you take a situation and spin it so that it isn't a bad/good thing.

Woman gives puppies free to good home

Turns into.

Woman abandons babies at local supermarket

"Si seulement vous pouviez voir à quel point vous êtes beau" would be the correct translation, though a native speaker would probably say "Si seulement vous pouviez voir comme vous êtes beau".

;) I am delerious from working a long day, not only have I lost my mind but it is the assumption that I ever had it to begin with that is most outrageous of all. With my job, I have time to think while I work.......*long pause* another ass....sumption. Really it would be easier to run shreiking down the hall...see I am a considerate person.
