Actually I might disagree to some extent. There are angry/mean/crazy people anywhere in proportion , it's a larger community so it can seem that way. I frequent the GB on occasion and have no issues there , in fact have made some wonderful , generous friends over the duration. Like anywhere it has it's own customs and takes awhile to find a niche . If you are looking for diversity of topic outside of BDSM there are some real diamonds to be discovered. ...that's were the "some people" part comes into play. I've read some really interesting threads but i've seen some hijacked unpleasantly. The people i have interacted with have all been great and very respectful but i don't think i'm brave enough to start a topic over there.

People are much more belligerent about their opinions, there, but it's kind of refreshing. But if you're not a combative person who views debate as sport OR a person who doesn't give a crap about people on message boards, your blood pressure will go up. I've flitted in and out, but overall, the political debates toward no discernible end just bore me.

One reason I like it (at least compared to, say, the Playground), is that they tend to keep the useless fluff to a minimum (do they really need an even number thread, and odd number thread, and a numbers counting down thread in the PG?), and people with sig lines that are 18 pages long tend to get requested to adjust them a bit.
I'll say this though - the initiation can be brutal. I got into some pretty big blow-ups with a guy or two when I first went over there - largely my own fault. Now the one I used to spat with the most is one of my better male friends (in terms of Lit, at least).
