...before I try and attempt to do it with my partner. I'm sure this question my have crossed other females minds now and in the past. So I'll make it brief.

Is it safe to try and massage the cervix and try to dilate it for deeper penetration?

"If this question is in the wrong category please forgive me".

I don't know if it's 100% safe (though I doubt it because nothing is), but I've had my cervix massaged plenty of times with no ill effects. It feels marvelous, too. I've read about cervical penetration, but I haven't tried it because no one I've played with is sure about how safe it is. (That probably didn't help you much, did it?)

I'm wondering about penetration, but I can do the massage in the meantime until I find out if it's safe or not. Thank you so far

Cheers :rose:

I don't think this is one of those "feels good across the board" things. i HATE having my cervix massaged, touched or in any way played with. i have had 4 surgeries on my cervix and uterus in the past 5 years and it's lost all ability to be pleasurable.

And yes...from a purely anatomical standpoint, you can dilate the cervix for penetration. However, this is risky because there is no guarantee that the cervix will close completely again, which can lead to infections of the uterus and fallopian tubes, scarring, and the inability to carry a child to term.

Apologies if this post comes across as overly negative...

I'm kind of pulling this out of my ass, but I'm not exactly sure cervical penetration is possible... but ummm A) why, and B) umm... why?

From a physiological perspective...

The cervix "migrates" for lack of a better term (from high up along the inside vaginal wall, to lower down), depending on where a woman is in her cycle. In a woman who has never given birth, the cervix will remain tightly closed (realtively speaking), unless she is about to ovulate, or is menstruating, at which point there will be *minor* dialation. (for example, women who regularly check the placement of their cervix for fertility reasons, will be able to insert a *fingertip* when their cervix is considered "soft and open".) If a woman has given birth several times, the cervix will close, but not as tightly as it would before birth. Even during an exam where a midwife or OB uses a speculum to scrape a sample of cervical cells, it's never dialated wide enough for something as thick as a penis to enter the cervix- the speculum is more for getting vaginal tissue out of the way for a clear view of the cervix. Cervical laproscopic surgery would involve minor dialation, but (again) nowhere near what it would require for penetration by a penis. So before you even get to the dialation issue, you have to get through the whole placement of the cervix/where a woman is in her cycle thing to even find the cervix to dialate it (usually if the cervix is low, soft, and somewhat open, it means a woman is ovulating, or about the menstruate).

You'd have to hit several cm dialation for the entry of a penis (I'm not even gonna *touch* the issues related to sterility and introduction of foreign bacteria by doing such a thing...), which normally takes labor, which is a hormonal/physicological event, or drugs, or the really 'effing painful invasion by a hand (says the woman who was manually dialated 1cm against her will, during one of her labors... ahem...).

I don't have studies to back it up, but logic leaves me with the strict impression that repeatedly *forcing* a cervix to open (wide enough for a penis) when it isn't *meant* to be open (in preperation for birth), could possibly lead/contribute to an incompetent cervix - a physical state which leads to miscarriage, or (at the least) very high risk pregnancies involving suturing the cervix closed, and complete bedrest- sometimes from as early as 6 weeks post-conception.

So *to me* this would be a kink that has to be weighed against long term issues such as potential disease risk, permanent damage, etc.

Having said all that, I've heard it can be enjoyable to have the cervix massaged, and I've heard it hurts like a mother if the cervix is rammed/bumped hard during intercourse. Depending on your goals, you might be able to use massaging/hard tapping to your benifit, but *IMO* attempts at actual cervical penetration by a penis might be one of those things best left in fantasy land.

It will lead to an incompetent cervix, which is the condition that i have required my surgeries for. The horrible thing about IC, is that it is VERY hard to tell if the cervix is weakened to that state until it is almost or completely too late. To the human eye, the cervix will appear fine. As the weight of the baby increases in pregnancy and puts more pressure on the cervix, it will simply be unable to support it. Hence why out of four pregnancies, i only have two living children...and was on bedrest for 28 weeks with each one.

This is not something to take lightly in that it can possibly have effects on the person that are lifelong and life-altering. Please really consider what you are doing.

Thank you HottieMama for confirming my suspicions... I thought I remembered there was a bigger reason I was pissed at the CNM who manually dialated me... I nearly left the birthing center (in the middle of labor) over it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :rose:

I had to have a hysterectomy due to a fully prolapsed uterus. I don't have my cervix anymore and I miss it. It is best, in my opinion to leave it alone. My prolapse issues weren't because of cervical penetration but I wouldn't want to take a chance.
