Are you sure???? What about Zelda? Because that was on the same console.

Positive. Zelda has been a Nintendo staple for close to twenty years. Ocarina of Time was the first one out for the 64, and the first Zelda game in full 3d. I forgot the name of the second one for the same console.

I never owned a Playstation. I never played any games on them either. I have played Goldeneye, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time though.

Now this is an interesting threadjack.

A thread about higher education is now discussing video games.

Does it really make any difference? Some of the biggest dumb-asses I know have MA's and PHD's.

I never did anything in my field anyway and have done just fine.

You got that right! :p

The original Goldeneye game was an N64 game, but there was a second game entitled Goldeneye: Rogue Agent that came out on Gamecube, PS2 and XBox. The second game was only very loosly based on the Bond liscence, where the N64 original followed the storyline of the movie.

ETA: Zelda has only ever been on Nintendo, except for a couple of CD-i games, and I'm sure the people who made those would rather no one remember them.

I forgot about Rogue Agent. Probably because I never played it.

However, due to her mention of Zelda, I have to insist it was the N64 version of the game, as a Zelda game has never been ported to another brand of console.

Physical Anthropology. My thesis was on the development of the foreum magnum connection with the spine in various animal groups. That was a waste of time.

Not to mention Pizza and beer. Ooh and Top Ramen, a college goers breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack of choice.

lol I remember when I started breakfast used to consist of a candy bar and a soda. :D

I wouldn't know. Even if I had gone to university it was before video games.

Well, except for Pong.

Might be a waste of time, but still very cool.

Ha! You got there fast. I was reading the thread and saw my answer - I'd just edited it out and then saw this.

Yep. Higher education is the process of... :)

I'm in complete agreement with you there. I only noticed the LoZ bit after I had posted that, hence the ETA portion. :p My friends and I still play Goldeneye to this day.

lol, i know dear, i'm from the US...but if you go ask my brother where he goes he'll always say college. You say community and it sends the little buggers in his class into a rage for some reason. Mind you they are in redneckville so they probably think we are insulting them. Plus i'm running one hell of a fever so we are lucky I even got college out.

Do you know one of the boys in his class still argues with me that it is 'collage' not college. *giggles* I have given up trying to convince him otherwise. I even sent him a dictionary!

The collage I went to had a libary. :)

In an advanced psychology class one guy argued that alcohol was a stimulant and not a depressant. I couldn't convince him.

You forgot "ABM" Stew. (Already been made stew. Veggies (whatever you can get cheap or steal) a can of Dinty Morre Stew and a huge pot. Lasts for weeks if you don't eat the meat and just keep adding more veggies every day) :D

This thread is making me nervous. Should I drop out now??

The question asked by thousands of undergrads :)

I have two sisters. The elder has a phd in Middle Easter History. She's a secretary.
The other has a phd in Persian Literature. She's a lawyer.

Just keep at it. Someday you might be a plumber or something :D

And I know at least two lawyers who are stay-at-home moms.

Ha ha, yeah, Tupperware (or the cheap generic alternative) is also a college students best friend. :D

My paper in Philosophy of Science was on Quantum Mechanics as a paradigm shift. That was back before everyone thought that paradigm shift was a phrase to be used more often than one takes a shit. Heisenberg Principle of Uncertainty - There is no such thing as Poetry.... :D

I went and got a BA. Had I known it would take me two years to find the job I wanted, I would have stayed and gotten my MA right then as well. I'll be going back eventually though.

I went to both a community college and an university. Well, I'm still at the uni. I'm working towards my Phd and hopefully complete my program by this time next year.

Triple Major BA: English, Philosophy, and Political Science

Learned a few useful things:

1. Everything is a system, learn the system and... exploit it.
2. There's always a human factor... exploit it.
3. If it's bullshit, don't get pissed/annoyed/unhappy... exploit it.

Obviously, my next goal is an MBA.

Oh, I suppose I forgot to specify: the BA was a double major in French and English. There was one semester when friends laughed because I had a stack of six open books that I was reading for various classes, and I would freak out if anyone made it fall over.

Sounds more politically oriented.

BA, English, University of Houston, 1977. I figured there wasn't an option to also check off community college, because I've done that too. It's common where I come from to start off at a community college, especially if your grades haven't been stellar in high school, and then you can transfer to a 4-year university. I went to San Jacinto college twice--the first time from '69 to '71, and then in '80 I took drafting courses at night for about a year.

If I had it to do over again, I'm not sure I'd have majored in English. I learned quite enough about writing from just writing, and of course, reading extensively, which is something I'd have done even if I hadn't had the opportunity to go to college. I might have majored in commercial art or something.

I have professional (Nursing) and academic (Ba Humanities) and teaching (PGCE) qualifications - yes I am confused!

I went to community college drunk everyday for two weeks, stole a library book and then withdrew from all my classes and kept the grant money to buy more alcohol. Uh, I still have the library book.
