For the Christians out there... do you believe God gave man total free will with only the hope of being with god in heaven... Or Do you think that God intervenes in the course of human events and geographical/meterological changes..........?

Because you can't have it both ways.........

on one hand.. if God does intervene and can change people's lives... He's one cruel mother fucker for letting more children die every day in Africa of Aids than were killed during the entire Sunami last year...... and he's a cruel mother fucker for allowing the torture and suffering in the Jewish holocaust..... I could go on with the list.........

on the other hand.... if he's just to be there for a figurative pillar of guidence and strength.... as the bible and christian leaders are to be used as a guide and for counseling..... Then how do you explain the miracles of the bible and the destruction of places like Sodom and Gamorra? or Why people need to pray to have things better in theirs and others lives if God has nothing to do with the outcome?

Definitely a paradox here.....

I've found out that many christians either don't believe in the bible or don't use it as any type of a guide for how they live their life...... Why is that?

Christians find answers for everything though.

"Why did my doggy die daddy?"

"Because God doesn't like you anymore Suzy. I'm sorry."

Sure they can. God's will covers all of it. If God is infallible and good then every thing that we percieve as being bad is actually good.

The Earth is God's toy. He got bored playing with it and is off playing Tekken now. He has yahoo running on his computer but is invisible. He hears the prayers but can choose to ignore.

Yes we can.

We can (and do) have free will - i.e., the ability to make choices. Just because someone else has control of circumstances doesn't mean we can't make choices.

Even just plain humans often have control over other people's circumstances - this doesn't make them God, or take away the free will of the people in those circumstances - it just makes the circumstances they encounter different.

ahh.. so you believe god CAN intervene when he/she/it/potato salad needs to BUT... humans have ultimate control of their own fate.....

I don't believe in an intervening God, so naturally everyone has "free will".

However, saying that, I'm secure enough in my beliefs that I can allow everyone else to have their own beliefs.

Mansome, your threads all sound the same: "I don't believe in God, but I'm scared that I might be wrong. Therefore if I shout and yell loud enough that there is no God, I just might convince myself it's true."

Good luck with that.

Your AIDS comment is totally off the wall. No way that's true. (If it were, Africa would have about 5 people still standing today.)
As for the different way Christians act, you can say that about any religion, or about any group of atheists.

One of the reasons that preachy religious types are so annoying is because they're the embodiment of a broken record, specifically when trying to make a case for their view being the right one by discrediting atheists and others.

Most atheists I know personally take great pride in not emulating this behavior. But you seem to embrace it, and that's disappointing.

I'm not an atheist.... I follow no prescribed dogma....

I'm not afraid that I may be wrong......... You have it quite the other way around... Fuck if for some crazy reason there is a god...... I'll just take up being a christian the last few hours of my life....

*shrugs*

I'm very secure in my beliefs.........

Whether you're an atheist or not is inconsequential. Are you going to address my assessment, or dodge it? :)

I compare christians to vegetarians who say they are vegetarians out of principle to cruelty to animals..

yet.. they'll wear leather shoes, eat baked goods with eggs in it, and go to the horse race track......

You spend a lot of time on here trying to discredit forms of religion. That tells an intelligent person that you're not secure in your beliefs at all.

The same is true for those who spend all their time preaching to others.

well your assessment was wrong.. i'm not an aethist.. so your preconceived notion is incorrect.....

and I'm use to christians pushing their beliefs down my throat.. what's wrong with me making a few comments on an erotic website?

It seems this is all he talks of, Rory. And when someone speaks their mind he twists their words and spews sarcasm.

It's old. Very old.

you are spending "a lot of time" trying to discredit me.. what's the difference?

if you don't think this is a valid thread then jump off.. =^)

bye bye....

football is on.....

Goo Lions....

I wonder which side God will take after the players pray in the center field for their team to win....

I hope God is a Lion's fan today and not a Vikings.....

Hmmm another "miracle" Daniel taming the Lion..... God intervening again.....

So, being a hypocrite and emulating their bad behavior is the right way to respond?

Your comments, then, are in the context of personal weakness. Perhaps you should step down and let someone else take the soapbox - that is, if you really care about the topic you're discussing. My guess is you don't; you only care about your own self-validation.

Go ahead; make my case for me. Or don't.

I'm quite clear on what I believe in..... no validation needed here...
if you want to attempt to discredit me that's fine also....

Why do you hang out on a porn board if all you want to talk about is Christianity?

Another dodge.

One day, you might develop some integrity. Let us know when you do; until then, your threads are pointless.

*laughs* check out the other threads I post on......

"What are you wearing"?

"Older Women/Younger Men"

"women who are addicted to cock sucking"

"men who wear panties"

I'm all over the place and on many different boards when I'm relaxing and posting on here...
