If they hate each other and do nothing but snipe at one another, then the lot of `em are pussies. Let's see some poisonings.

Yes, they do. In some cirlces a popular notion is that the pope is controlled by a sinister "black pope"; that some...I don't know roman numerals on one of his official pope gear adds up to 666 and other such lunacy; that they are idolators; that they are most certainly not Christians. And so on.

I don't know about fundamentalist Christians, although you can't get much more fundamentalist in the old world sense of the word than me.

But , know this ... I don't hate catholics or any other religion.

I don't understand catholics. I mean I just don't get asking dead people to intercede for them.

When I need action I go to the main dude through his VP, J.C.

It works so why should I mess with it?

Having been raised Roman Catholic, with a Pentecostal grandmother, and Baptist, Mennonite, Anglican, and Presbyterian friends... I'm gonna have to say I never felt that animosity.

*shrug*

I ask both the living and the dead to pray for me. For those who believe in life everlasting, what's the difference between the two?

Of the Christian denominations you listed there, only the Pentecostals have any particular likelihood of holding contempt for Catholics. (And of course this is a general statement.) Mennonites don't care and Anglicans, Presbyterians and Baptists typically have close ties to the Church. Except the American Southern Baptists.

Careful, she'll eat you.

Fundamentalists hate everyone and everything including themselves.

You can't get much more fundamental than that.

I do smell particularly yummy today.

Landover Baptists is a great parody site and the "Cathylicks" are a popular target: http://www.landoverbaptist.org/subjectarchive/catholics.html. Some of y'all would be surprised how close to the mark some of their articles are in describing the opinions held by many Christian fundies.

using really broad paint brushes, catholics believe in social justice -- which includes concepts such as living wages, elimination of death penalty, avoidance of unjust wars, balancing capitalism with the welfare of the common man, etc.

fundamentalist evangelicals believe in justice, too. for people like themselves. everybody else deserves to and is going to hell.

being Catholic, um, yup. We represent the opposition. We are also their history, the Roman church and the Eastern churches being the originals. Hard to dismiss your history.

Being or involving basic facts or principles.

Yet Jesus was often found eating, drinking, talking with sinners.

Hey, If HE finds nothing wrong with it...

But he also was quite clear that they were going to hell if they didn't change their ways.

I remember being told in church that Catholics were idolaters and Jews kills Jesus.

We Christians often need to remember that Christ told them to love their neighbors as themselves.

I did indeed say that. :)

Jesus I am overjoyed to meet you face to face
You've been getting quite a name all around the place
Healing cripples raising from the dead
And now I understand you're God at least that's what you've said

So you are the Christ you're the great Jesus Christ
Prove to me that you're divine - change my water into wine
That's all you need do and I'll know it's all true
C'mon King of the Jews

Jesus you just won't believe the hit you've made round here
You are all we talk about the wonder of the year
Oh what a pity if it's all a lie
Still I'm sure that you can rock the cynics if you try
So you are the Christ you're the great Jesus Christ
Prove to me that you're no fool walk across my swimming pool
If you do that for me then I'll let you go free
C'mon King of the Jews

I only ask things I'd ask any superstar
What is it that you have got that puts you where you are?
I am waiting yes I'm a captive fan
I am dying to be shown that you are not just any man

So if you are the Christ yes the great Jesus Christ
Feed my household with this bread - you can do it on your head
Or has something gone wrong? Why do you take so long?
C'mon King of the Jews

Hey! Aren't you scared of me Christ? Mr, Wonderful Christ!
You're a joke you're not the Lord - you are nothing but a fraud
Take him away - he's got nothing to say!
Get out you King of the Jews! Get out of my life

Hey, If HE finds nothing wrong with it...

I'm fairly sure in his eating, drinking, and talking he wasn't there to partake or associate himself with the "sinful" activity. So unless you're here as some kind of missonary...
