If I were Mod of the Gee Bee
Not queen, not duke, not prince
My regal robes of the Gee Bee
Would be satin, not cotton, not chintz

I'd survey each post, be it keen or foul
With a woof and a woof and a royal growl (woof!)

As I'd click my heel, other Mods would kneel
And the tards would bow and the trolls kowtow
And the spammers would no longer spam for God —
If I — If I — were Mod!

Each poster would show respect to me
The starters of threads genuflect to me
Though my tail would lash, I would show compash
For every newb regardless of how odd —
If I — If I — were Mod!

I voted "no", although I have advocated them in the past, the arguements raised against that line at the time convinced me otherwise.

If (when?) they do become necessary I do feel they should not only be anon, but also number three, all totaly unknown to each other as well as the board.

Vote for me — I'll let you post whatever you want. :rose:

I already post whatever I want.

But, I'd vote for you anyway.

LT would make a better mod.

You spend too much time flirting...

;) ;)

Sweet! :)

In that case, you pick any five threads that annoy you, and I'll delete them.

Just curious, with the events of the last few months, how many would like to see the GB have moderators?

If so, should their identities be public knowledge or should they be anonymous Mod's?

Why? What is the job of a moderator? To guide the discussion is the primary role. How can this be done in the GB? It's a wide open free for all here. There is no subject to be guided.

That being the case, a Mod. would really be nothing more than a "Thread Cop" and those posts that are outside the bounds of the board get yanked by management anyway.

I just can't see a legitimate role for a Mod. on the GB.

Unless of course we go with the "progressive" method of weighting the yes votes higher since we'll assume all trolls know they are trolls and vote no...

;) ;)

Ish, did you not read the thread in it's entirety - nor all the threads that have lead up to this one? ;)

I find it interesting to see what people think.
And to hear both sides of the for and against a Mod for the GB.

Well, crap. I don't have any threads that annoy me. I've already gotten rid of them. I'm sorry.

I'll leave the next one for you!

With a platform like that you'd get a lot of votes from a certain group of posters, I think. ;)

I know.

That's what makes me a real contender!

A Million Dollar Baby even...

I've read a few of them Debbie. Makes no difference.

This forum is beyond 'management' in the conventional sense of the word.

It seems that Laurel is quite content to handle this one on her own. So in that context, there is a Mod. on the GB. Just a silent one.

Oh. Well, how about users, then?

Have you run into Beco yet, or that RawHumor alt?

I could send 'em to the cornfield.

Ddin't used to be that way ;) ;)

COME ON, it's a Clint Eastwood joke!

:D

I hear what you are saying Ish.

But I sense that some of the many need to be reassured.

I personally don't want to bug Laurel and say, "Hey. There are some concerns about someone hacking PMs."

Ducky has stated that Laurel is informed/involved and at this point that is more than enough for me.

Is it a coincidence that there have been more than one person on lit who has had their hotmail or yahoo email account hacked lately?
