They need to know who to discriminate against and how much in order for them to promote their concepts of social and economic equity, the primary concern of their politics.

That's what's so fascinating about all the isms happening now in America.
One gets the strange feelings that there are two parallel agendas happening at the same time:
- At the level of laypeople: People who are genuine (racism and bigotry still exist one can't deny it) versus bigots.
- At a higher level, they are trying to (mis)use all these isms to institute some sort of cultural shift or regime change.

Like it happened with Feminism.
Laypeople fought for women's rights, while politicians tried to use the movement to get a larger workforce with lower wages.
