Would you?

My Enigma
~~~~~~~
Now, falling victim to age's ennui
Of late I've recalled the joys of past times.
Those halcyon days, when summers were hot
Having that kiss that did make it hotter
I'll never again be premier cru
Next as I am to age's experience.
God how I miss, the ignorance of youth!
Aha another Acrostic, and yes I can see there is another word at the end (not sure where the 'H' fits in though)
you can take mine, if you like, todski! i haven't a clue what to do with that one annie tossed my way :eek:
ok how about trying a new subject of a superstition or phobia you have? If you haven't got one you could make one up
There's an odd number of letters which made it hard to do a double acrostic, so I decided to try to use the punctuation (full stops) to indicate ends of words and the final exclamation mark as the end of the encoded phrase.
Please may I have another?
It's not a true Double Acrostic as that has the same word at both ends ........ I'm not sure what your version would be perhaps somebody can tell me!
Can you hang on a bit as I'm still waiting for some from Round one and two and already getting confused what with people attempting to swap :)
Yes. But it would likely be a sonnet. Fair warning.
I was very tempted to give you the subject of one loooooooooooong sentence but decided if you're writing sonnet that would be just too mean :D so WillOtheWisp your subject is a love poem to an inanimate object
We could dub Wintermute's poem an extended double-ended acrostic w/punctuation.
<snip>if you turned that last line around a bit to "God how I miss the youth of ignorance!" you get the same meaning plus twist it a little plus get a near rhyme with "experience." <snip> :)
<snip> this would work well too:
God how I miss youths ignorance! (lot of sonics there but I think the tongue twists a little)
I think it's the repetitious " s"sound, if you change
to:
god how I miss youthful ignorance?
Breaks the s in miss, youths and ignorance
Lookit you poets! Tossing around adjectives like they always need to be in a poem. I want to suggest: How I miss bliss and ignorance!
..
I like that, gets rid of that awkward 'th' in youth. not quite right I think it needs a 'the' between miss and bliss, add an 'of' where 'and' is. (take 'em out, put 'em in. :confused: )
Ghost Story Ghosts
I could tell you a million ghost stories.
Everywhere I look I see ghost stories.
When ghosts enter my room they come like moths
that brush their wings at me, they leave no room
you see, they leave no room inside of me
and once within they don't leave peaceably
and once within they capture bits of me
within their smoky swirling tragedy
for that is how their voices sound to me--
quiet anarchy like a kaleidoscope.
There was a ghost on Crematory Hill
(some said the Jersey Devil). No. A ghost.
Devils are different more like demons.
I have my demons, too, but prefer ghosts.
I try to love my ghosts, I try to see
the me that isn't there when I'm a ghost.
As you are all getting so good perhaps this is next
Who Can ask if bubbles
will enHance and enthrall
senses Already heightened
by this Multitude of communications?
Then a Proposal so unexpected
can't cAtastrophically plunge
and liGhten the atmosphere
reeliNg into orbits so hot
and ovErly sensational.
If I had worked on it harder it would have lined up :)
stuck-like a super-glue fool
Millie your subject is pretending you are somebody else
I took creative advantage of the typo...:)
Millie and Mollie
My name is Millie,
the alt of Mollie,
pleased to meet you
and so is she.
And I am Mollie
the alt of Millie
she says I'm pleased
but I'll wait and see.
The thing with Millie,
she's far too jolly,
sings songs and rhymes
incessantly.
Well, that old Mollie
she gets all silly
as tropical fish
are wont to be.
One half's Millie
the other's Mollie,
I'm confused, can we
move to round three?
Now, who's a clever poet? :D
Eh, I just can't find an Acrostic
In me. No, not nary a oNe
Not to spell another Name
None that would inspIre a game
And write a poet Embedded in.
Rosslyn Chapel
Rosslyn Chapel
Is assigned from the UK
much to the confusion of
this poor colonial mind
I can walk to Rosslyn from Arlington
take the Orange line one stop but
Orange is a loyalist color, right?
Which implies Protestant I think --
but is that only Ireland or
does Scotland apply as well?
Anyway this is DC not Boston
where it might even be dangerous to wear Orange
over Red Sox
Rosslyn is a town
Of steel and glass
Building on what Andrew Carnegie
started but alas,
Any church here is probably
Baptist and I doubt if that exists in Scotland
and certainly there would be no stone carved
And suspect the benches would be plywood
Not oak
I understand why Annie might
want me to see the
One but not the other
So I add it to my list of things
to do
on the Continent.
This is damn good and I refuse to cane you for missing a couple of lines with no repetitions :)
